Saturday 21-12-2013 (Strahan)

Brrr. It’s freezing here! This morning we woke up and piled on the layers before starting our day. Firstly we went to Mackintosh Dam at Tullah. On one side of the dam was a pretty, but cold, lake. Tree trunks littered the banks, and I amused myself by climbing and jumping off of them. Next we headed to Rosebury where we did a grocery shop then drove to the Stitt Falls, which were close to the town. The falls were a bit small, but still pretty. We then drove to Montezuma Falls. At Montezuma Falls Gabby and Dad embarked on an 8km walk, or so it said on information board (More lying Information Boards!). Apparently, in reality, the walk was 9.6km.
(Well, actually, according to Dad’s phone it was more like 11.2km. It was a very nice walk though! The track was surrounded by a damp forest of ferns and trees, and was a perfect temperature to walk in. The track itself was a little mushy so my black and purple shoes are now brown. Along the way, we saw water trickling down the moss-covered cliff on one side and a small cave-like mining adit which we could walk a short way into (it was very dark and wet). The falls themselves were very tall and pretty, especially when viewed from the thin and slightly swaying suspension bridge. In the end, we were quite tired (it was a long walk) but happy.)

Whilst they walked Mum and I stayed at the bus and read. After 3 hours, the time the walk took, we made our way to the Keyhole Tunnel at Zeehan.  The tunnel was 100m long and used to be an old mining tunnel. It was really creepy, but cool, with thick cobwebs hanging off the ceiling. We left Zeehan and were on our way to Strahan when an airy sound was heard by Mum and Dad. Turns out the same exhaust plug had come loose, and this time it had rolled out of the bus, onto the road. We spent half-an-hour combing the road for it, with no luck. We travelled to where we are now staying the night; a golf course in Strahan.

Thank you all for your hilarious comments. We have finally got the blog working and are able to read them.

Hope you all are enjoying the warm weather,
Maddy.
